Zrum Thi Van Nhu

Van Nhu is a student in class ¼ at Dakpring-Dakpre primary school in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province. She lives in village 49F, Dakpring commune, which is located in a remote mountainous area. Due to her club-footed and club-handed condition, Van Nhu has been facing many difficulties in her studies and daily life. She can’t walk steadily and always needs help for every activity such as drinking and wearing clothes. Her parents, who have to work hard on their farms, are unable to take care of her all the time. They were very confused because they didn’t know how to support her effectively.

In 2020, Van Nhu got enrolled in Dakpring-Dakpre primary school, where she received support from VNHIP's project. The project helped her visit Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital, where she underwent a check-up for her disability and received valuable advice from physiotherapists. This made her parents feel more confident in supporting Van Nhu at home.

With these supports, Van Nhu has become more interested in her studies, and her mobility and daily activities have improved significantly after practicing the rehabilitation exercises. "Until now, she can walk steadily on both of her feet, wear clothes, and drink water with two hands. Although there are a lot of difficulties and challenges, we have more motivation when getting support from VNHIP's project and teachers. I hope that my child will improve more in the future," says Mr. Lao, Van Nhu's father.
