The Viet Nam Health Improvement Project has been working in Viet Nam for more than 10 years and has first hand knowledge of the culture, systems and methods of implementing change. Our projects are successful because of our specialist local knowledge and the dedication and commitment of our skilled staff.

NCD management

The number of people with diabetes and high blood pressure continues to grow in Viet Nam. With proper diagnosis and treatment, these diseases can be controlled. Our staff, working with the World Health Organization, developed a training protocol for proper treatment and medication. This protocol is now being taught to local health care providers.

HIV Care Saves Lives

VNHIP has been helping children living with HIV in Viet Nam since 2008. We work closely with local HIV clinics to identify and contact the children with the greatest need. We currently provide financial and medical assistance to 13 children and work to ensure that they have access to the best available medicines to treat their disease.

Nam Giang WASH

Nam Giang is a poor district in Central Viet Nam, located along the border with Laos. It is a mountainous region populated by several ethnic minorities including the C’Tu, Gie and Ta Rieng. VNHIP is working with the local schools in the Ca Dy commune to improve the health and hygiene of the students through health education and the provision of water and sanitation.

Cardiac care

Heart disease affects many younger people in Viet Nam, because of untreated heart defects. VNHIP evaluates each case referred to us to determine the need for surgery and the patient's ability to pay for it. We organize for surgery to be performed by a local doctor and make up any shortfall. We also provide access to life-saving treatment for disadvantaged adults with structural heart defects.
