A Journey of Love for Children with Disabilities

I have been a teacher at Van Thanh Tung Primary School since 1995. Not only have I been educating students, but I have also been supporting children with disabilities. These children may have different disabilities, such as Down syndrome, autism, and/or intellectual disabilities, who often face unique challenges in learning and integrating into society. Simple tasks such as sitting still, listening, reading, writing, or even using the bathroom, and making friends can be quite difficult.
At first, I struggled to find the right approach. I often asked myself, "How can I help them focus and make progress?" But through training sessions by VNHIP and the inclusive education support room model, I was able to learn effective teaching strategies. With patience, love, and empathy, I adapted my lessons to their needs.

One of my most unforgettable moments was when a student excitedly called out, "Teacher, I can write now!" Seeing the joy on his face as he proudly showed me his first written words made all the effort worthwhile.
Despite these challenges, such as limited resources, lack of awareness, and financial struggles, with love and dedication, every child has the potential to grow and shine. I hope for more support to create a better learning environment, not just in classrooms but in the community, where children with disabilities can truly belong and thrive.
