Finding Hope in Education: Hồng Nguyệt’s Journey
Đặng Thị Hồng Nguyệt is a fifth-grade student at Nguyễn Phan Vinh Primary School in Điện Bàn, Quảng Nam. She is the eldest of three sisters in a family where both parents work as factory workers. Since birth, Nguyệt has developed more slowly than her peers. Due to her limited memory, she faces many difficulties in absorbing and retaining lessons at school. Although her parents care deeply about her education, their difficult financial situation has prevented them from providing her with extra tutoring like other children.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted education, causing long interruptions in learning. When schools reopened, Nguyệt struggled even more to keep up, and her teacher found it challenging to help her stay on track. This led to frustration for both Nguyệt and her family, and at times, she even considered dropping out |

Understanding her difficulties, VNHIP stepped in and arranged for a special education teacher to provide her with additional lessons at home. Twice a week, Nguyệt and her teacher reviewed her lessons using appropriate teaching methods. The teacher also guided her parents on how to support her learning at home to help her achieve better results.
Thanks to this dedicated support, Nguyệt has made significant progress and is gradually catching up with her classmates. With excitement, she shared, “I love Ms. Lan so much! She teaches in a way that’s easy to understand and fun, too.”
